It was my first time shooting at The Normans, a new'ish wedding venue near York which has been set up by husband and wife team, Oliver and Laura Robinson, and what a fabulous job they have done of transforming the family farm into a stylish and unique place to get married. They have thought of every detail, adding some really lovely touches, my favourite being the old cow shed which they have converted in a warm and cosy "snug" for guests to sit and relax in.
Steph & Andy pre-wedding shoot | Acomb Wood, York
It was great meeting up with Steph and Andy for their pre-wedding shoot. The couple live in Woodthorpe, just outside York and suggested that we go to their local nature reserve, Acomb Wood, for the shoot. I always let couples choose the location of their pre-wedding shoot so that it is somewhere special to them, and Acomb Woods is a place that Steph and Andy spend a lot of time together walking their dog, Paddy - A special mention should go to Paddy who was such a star, until that is when he took the opportunity whilst I was lying down to get a shot to kick dirt up into my face! It was very funny and did provide some great shots of Steph and Andy laughing.

When the alarm clock went off at 6am, I was cursing myself for having suggested another dawn shoot on a Sunday! However, it was totally worth the early start to meet up with Kim and Adam for their pre-wedding shoot around the streets of York. After all, there aren’t many times when you get The Shambles to yourself.

I had not met Dave and Liz before the shoot as it was in fact my wonderful wife who had spoken to them at the York Racecourse wedding fayre last March. They enjoyed speaking to her so much that they figured that I must be also quite a nice person and they decided to book me - I hope they weren't too disappointed when they finally met me!
